I also have the Model 2 Sega CD. But I have a Model 1 Genesis. And the two of them together work, but it's touchy as hell. It's gotta be slid into that expansions bay just freaking right or it's glitch-city. I'm seriously thinking about buying a Model 2 Genesis so the Sega CD Model 2 will work better, and using my Model 1 Genesis simply for using the Power Base Converter to play Master System games since the Model 2 doesn't support it.

Sega CD is great little add-on, though. You do have to wade through a sea of crap to find the gems, though. And it's a bit harder to just run across Sega CD games.

Robo-Aleste, GET IT.

Good luck with your new system and congrats!

Reminds me of my 32X before I reseated the ribbon cables inside of if. I've never seen a Sega CD 2 in the wild that still had the expander to support the Genesis 1. I'm lucky mine even still has the metal joining plate for the bottom of the console.

It's not so much that the Model 2 doesn't support it as that it simply won't fit. The converter works fine if you saw the back part off. That part's useless anyway. It won't work on top of a 32X though, so that's why have a Master System... that and because someone gave it to me for free.

I'm noticing that...

Thanks! :D

Wait, you can burn Sega CD games? Do I need a special program to do this? That's insane that these are not copy right protected!! Maybe my scratched copies of Sonic CD and Eternal Champions will play better now. I think my Sega CD may need a good cleaning though because sometimes the games freeze, get a distorted screen images, and/or resets back to the Sega CD logo start up menu/screen. Now I'm going to add another question here, what needs to be cleaned to fix this? The connector/port to the Genesis or the CD system itself? Could I use that Blow off duster stuff they sell in those aerosol cans?
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Well back then CD burners were expensive and difficult to find so i understand why they didnt bother putting any security in. I burn mine with Nero, copies just like any other disk :)

Might just need cleaning. I have no problems with my Gen 1 and CD 2 together.

Indeed, I remember 1X or 2x burners being over $1000 around that time.

Hope you're enjoying your SCD, some other good games to try, Lunar: Silver Star, and Lunar: Eternal Blue, they're just amazing RPGs, the SCD port of NBA Jam is pretty good if you don't already have the GEN version. Earthworm Jim on SCD is just perfect, gotta love that, Lords of Thunder is a really good shump if you're into those, and if you're into FMV, the Power Rangers game, though grainy has dump, is pretty solid, providing you like Power Rangers.

I'm having trouble finding a CD image of Lunar 1 that doesn't have the audio tracks out of sync, or an original copy that I can afford...

Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side. Most underrated fighter of all time IMO.

Sega CD also has the definitive version of Earthworm Jim for what that's worth. Much better sound and maybe a bit crisper graphically. I think it might have had more levels as well.

It has an extra level and a CD audio soundtrack, and the existing levels are expanded, but it doesn't have some of the SNES graphical effects. Blended transparency in the underwater tunnels and a lens flare in the first level are all I can think of that are missing though.
