It said something along the lines of an illegal debug message or code by Iguana and a bunch of numbers and letters underneath that? I don't remember exactly what the message said, sorry. Anyone ever have this happen to them? Is there some kind of defect with this game? Should I get another copy of the game? Very strange, I have NEVER seen this kind of thing before with any of my cart games. Thanks!

This happened to me too on my Wolverine Adamantium Rage cart. It happens every time I play the game, along with other random glitches. It's the only Genesis game I own that is actually visually glitchy. Cleaning seems to have no effect.

Unfortunately sometimes these things are due to bad luck. I actually had a Sonic game that was pretty glitchy even when cleaned.

Now I have another question that is probably going to raise some debate and I'm sure there's a page somewhere on this topic. What cleaning method is best for carts? I have been using that alchol game cleaner liquid (I know that it's mixed with something and not straight alcohol) that Gamestop used to sell along with system cleaners that you pull in and out of the system a few times (which I never understood how that was an effective method). I have also heard that windex/glass cleaner can be used, although that one scares me.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

It would scare me a little to use something like windex. I don't really know the "best" way to clean them, but followed all the internet people's advice and use rubbing alcohol. (Because if it is on the internet it is true right?)

Hopefully someone else a little more tuned in will know the best answer, but I have used rubbing alcohol for a while now and have seen no problems with my games.

I think if you soaked them in anything it would be bad. You just always have to be careful to not use too much I suppose.

The game cleaner stuff is fine. Electrical contact cleaner is best. Alcohol is sorta ok, but it has water in it so you have to have to be extra careful it dries quickly and fully. Windex is bad at the very least because it has blue dye and perfume in it which will leave a residue.

I had something similar happen on Virtual Bart right in the middle of playing, and I'd definitely cleaned the contacts prior to putting it in the system. I've never seen a similar crash error in any other Genesis game. It's interesting that two of the other games cited in this thread (NBA Jam and Wolverine: Adamantium Rage) were also Acclaim products, though all were handled by different developers.
