Mario Kart Wii sold without wheel?

Post by k.vlaros »

This is a selfish, narrow and minor topic.

Was or is Mario Kart Wii sold at retail in the US unbundled from the Wii? Secondarily, can someone say for sure if, in the wheel bundle, the game itself is factory sealed in the usual cellophane? Thanks!

Yes, Virginia - there is a stand-alone Mario Kart Wii.. I see it at my local Gamestop and Target all the time..

And as a launch-day buyer, I can confirm that once you were to crack open the stiff, cardboard box that originally held the Wii Wheel, the game included was indeed in it's own cellophane wrapping!
Hope this helps!

Here's Target's info -

"New features this year are an online racing mode, new motorbike vehicle types, a special balancing system for new and veteran players, and (in its initial release) a special Mario Kart wheel packaged with the game."

Very interesting quote, thank you.

But I have a truck load of Amazon credit and it's $10 off at Amazon... yet only sold with the wheel. So I don't think the Target page is accurate the wheel bundle was only the "first print". Maybe a tactic to entice people to "buy now while supplies last!"?

Apparently there's this thing called an un-packing video and this thing is on the Internet. Just took a view of one and yeah, not only is it sealed in the wheel bundle but the artwork has all the ESRB and barcode clues that the disc would probably be available stand alone as well. OK!

I usually only see it with the wheel wherever I go.

Got me thinking about all the non active plastic pieces one could buy for the Wii remote. Steering wheel, bat, tennis racket, etc. Probably the easiest mod to create your custom controller enclosure.
