Heavy Rain 1GB+ Update..?!
While my buddy was borrowing my PS3, he got Heavy Rain about 4 months ago.. Last week I got it back from him, along with the games he bought for the system, (including Heavy Rain.) When I popped the disc in the other day, I went to go play and was greeted with the usual software update screen telling me to update before I can play.. I hit OK, only to see that the update is a whole-freakin' GB (and some change) HUGE!
Is this normal and/or legit? I remember when I first bought the system 9 months ago and updated for the first time to catch up on years-worth of firmware updates, and that didn't necessitate a friggin' hour's worth of a single file download!
Anybody else run into this, or am I facing some kind of unusual buggery??

Was this the update that implemented the PS Move functionality?
I heard that was supposed to be in the works. *shrug*

Wow, I think that is the largest update I have heard of. I have never had anything even remotely close to that.

Fear not. This update was just implementing PS Move controls. Everything's fine.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:While my buddy was borrowing my PS3, he got Heavy Rain about 4 months ago.. Do you REALLY think a 1 GB Update is bad? I downloaded a game off PSN called Record of Agarest War, and it was NINE FREAKING GIGABYTES! How's that for large?

Oh yeah, I hear ya - That's freakin' huge.. But that's for a new game to play! (which I have for the 360, and IMHO - is a really fun SRPG! Enjoy..) This was for a simple update in order to be able to play a game that was already owned and run on my system, but is necessary to continue playing it.. I just think it's kind of excessive is all, but perhaps this is what's to come in the future of gaming.. I used to think 2-5MB updates on my PC were huge..ReddMcKnight wrote:Do you REALLY think a 1 GB Update is bad? Ah. I see your point. (Sigh) I wish I could go back to the days when a game was released in full, and if it was glitchy, we put up with it, and for that matter, LIKED it. (Minus World, anyone?).Rurouni_Fencer wrote:Oh yeah, I hear ya - That's freakin' huge.. But that's for a new game to play! (which I have for the 360, and IMHO - is a really fun SRPG! Enjoy..)
