 I'm keeping my electronics away from salt and rice, I don't think they would get along too well.

Rice actually works ridiculously well. My DS was on the basement floor when it flooded, and refused to stay on for more than two seconds. A week in a tub of rice later, it worked like new!

Tickle me impressed. I never would have even considered doing that.

In case anyone is wondering, I ironed the backs with a piece of wax paper between the paper and the iron. It seemed to work well and once I put them back in the cases, it seemed fine. I don't think they are back to new, but for some old crappy games that no one except a collector would care about I think it's fine.

Very interesting about the rice, I've heard of that before but never knew anyone that had the occasion to use it.

I knew about the trick with restaurants putting a few grains of rice in salt shakers, but hadn't though to use rice for drying other things out.

My mom once washed my 8 gig flash drive, put it in a rice container for 3 days and worked perfectly.

If you don't want to use rice (which is an desiccant ) you can try using Silica, which is what often gets used around electronics.
