Tomb Raider on the N64?
My friend claims it exists, but I can't find anything on it. Was there a possibility of a prototype or bootleg?

Ive never heard of this, apart from fanboy hearsay. I know not of a prototype or even tech demo and I am a pretty big Nintendo fan.

It was rumored at some point, but I don't think it ever happened. Lousy game anyway.

I beg to differ. I'm giving it another go on Saturn at the moment, and I find it fun and playable.flamepanther wrote: Lousy game anyway.

Saturn version? Do you ride the shortbus to school, or did your mother's tit milk have a high enough proof to double as rocket fuel?RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I beg to differ. I'm giving it another go on Saturn at the moment, and I find it fun and playable.flamepanther wrote: Lousy game anyway.
If not the PS1 version, then the PC version.
And you can get all the TR games on PSN, except for Chronicles. Of course, TR1 is $10 (the rest are $6), and they have the remake but it costs more.

I almost want to agree with this but you have to remember the time that it came out. Tomb Raider was one of the very first 3D games. That and Mario 64 were both mind blowing because that they were so different from everything else available at the time.flamepanther wrote:It was rumored at some point, but I don't think it ever happened. Despite being one of the first 3D games, Mario 64 was incredibly well done and still holds up very well today. Tomb Raider on the other hand, has downright awful graphics, poor controls and certainly hasn't stood the test of time like Mario 64 has.
Mario's acrobatic movements were very smooth and fluid, and very easy to learn and master.
Moving Lara Croft around felt stiff, robotic and difficult. I would often have trouble getting her to do exactly what I wanted, and I had a hard time adjusting to it. A big reason for this was the Saturn and PS lacked analog sticks at the time. D-pads aren't so great for controlling characters in a 3D space.

I left high school early to go to college, and I was never breast fed, not to mention that she was an alcoholic.REPO Man wrote:Saturn version? That said, take your insults elsewhere. Just because you don't enjoy doesn't mean other people can't. Yes the game is a little stiff, but I've never had trouble with tank like controls. Its not that bad, especially considering the time it came out as Inazuma stated.

Re: Tomb Raider on the N64?
There were other things that made TR stand out. It was more atmospheric than other titles and had some interesting use of puzzles. When games were all about being loud and flashy, TR was quiet and subtle. That's what stood out to me about it. I liked how games like TR and Resident Evil was able to create certain moods, making them a more interesting look into the future of gaming I thought than something like Mario 64. I always considered TR a more interesting intro to 3D gaming than Mario. It felt more fresh and new to me at the time while Mario was still the fat plumber who liked to play with turtles and mushrooms and couldn't get a certain princess to put out
Course, Lara herself became much more important than the actual game that spawned her. She became bigger than the gaming industry. She's a part of pop culture now like Donkey Kong and Mario and maybe even Sonic
