Why doesn't Nintendo redesign its consoles anymore?
Nintendo keeps redesigning its handhelds, making them smaller/bigger, adding (and in the case of BC unfortunately removing) features, and most of all (for their pocket) sparking consumer demand.
On the home console side though we haven't seen a redesign since the SNES days. Why wasn't the N64 redesigned? Why wasn't there a cube slim? And why isn't there an even smaller Wii?
Perhaps they though since they are shit at redesigning home consoles, why bother? But it still strikes me as kind of odd as to why they don't do it. Specially with how well the PS2,PS3 and 360 redesigns have sold.

I would love a redesigned/smaller N64. Cube and Wii are great as they are in my book, and I dont know how much smaller they can get.
Personally I would love it if all consoles were made in the same footprint as other AV gear. Mostly so everything would fit and stack.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much smaller the Wii can get, since it has to accomodate a bulky optical drive.

I don't think they'll ever make another home console that could be redesigned into a smaller form. Why redesign a console when you can make it right the first time?

The n64 was redesigned they made it smaller late on, The cube was design perfection it didn't need a redesign, same with the Wii really it looks great all shiny and white.
Nintendo have a habit of getting it right first try since the Super Famicom everything has looked really stylish the n64's curve is still alluring to me, The original DS is the only blip I can remember, Why fix it if it ain't broken?
If ANY console ever needed a redesign it's the monolithic oXbox

That a game company isn't just double dipping for the sake of it is quite refreshing.ZeroAX wrote:

The only "redesign" Nintendo has done for the 'cube (minus that dvd playing one) and Wii were different colors which I believe actually boosted sales.ZeroAX wrote:extra sales?

i second the redesign of the obox. that thing is a beast. way to big and bulky, weighs a ton too...
Re: Why doesn't Nintendo redesign its consoles anymore?
How in the heck would you make a smaller Wii? It's not physically possible! 100% of the space is already used up.ZeroAX wrote:And why isn't there an even smaller Wii?

I'd gladly pay for a bunch of case mods or something to do just that.fastbilly1 wrote: Personally I would love it if all consoles were made in the same footprint as other AV gear. Mostly so everything would fit and stack.
