I'm sorry but no living man could handle the awesome aura that exudes from such an ultimate combination of video game systems. By flicking the power switch, your being in its entirety would be flung clear to the other side of the universe. Play at your own risk.

if it was possible to have just one disc drive for everything that'd be snazzy as hell.

it could even be pretty visually attractive...

but xonticus... why no master system? :(

Of course even if some was able to build such a monstrosity, it would need 8 power adapters and a small nuclear reaction just to power on!
NES, SNES, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GCN, Wii, PS3, 360, GB, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, PSP 3000, and 3DS XL

Why is backwards compatibility demanded of everything these days? Even things that don't make sense, like a CD-based system being able to play cartridge-based games?

Back in my day, the Super Nintendo couldn't play Nintendo games, and we got along just fine. A system that can't stand on its own isn't worth owning in the first place.

The SNES might not have been able to play NES games, but the Atari 5200 and 7200 were backwards compatible, and so was the Genesis (with an addon)

Backwards compatibility is just nifty and saves some precious shelf real-estate.

And not to mention that it's incredibly difficult to play lots of games for many different systems for people who are either on budgets and cannot afford multiple systems or have difficulties finding original hardware.

Backwards compatibility is awesome when you have the option. :)

I've never found backwards compatibility to be a definitive factor in buying a new console.

Back on topic, as has been said, the Saturn cannot play Sega CD games, however, if you want to get your hands dirty and have a couple spare units and some decent working materials, have a go at building a system yourself.

I can imagine a sort of vertically standing unit with a CD drive on each side being fairly easy as long as you know how to mount everything properly. Could make it out of some nice cherry wood as well and have a very attractive game center.

The main problem I see with this idea is, beyond Sonic CD and Thunderstrike, what Sega CD games would you possibly want to play on a regular basis? I mean the FMV games are good for a few laughs, but definitely not worth building a multi-console unit over.

Not to mention the aforementioned exploding or imploding of the universe by combining more than one Sega system in a confined space.
