Dreamcast Tux downloading help

Post by emurozii »

Everyone says to download TuxtheWise's Dreamcast games because they're done a lot better. From here: http://snesorama.us/board/showpost.php? ... stcount=94

So I went on there and wanted to download Sonic Adventure 2: http://snesorama.us/board/showpost.php? ... tcount=215

I downloaded all four parts and now what? I noticed a lot of his files are like this.

What am I suppose to do to the files? They won't burn to a file like that, and with Alcohol 120 it only lets me burn one file to a disc, and this is suppose to be a one disc thing.

Help?

Extracting files:
Use 7-zip. For unpacking the RAR files inside archive, you can use WinRAR.

I've tried using WinRar (despite them not even being the correct file in the first place) and it doesn't work. It says something like 'No Archive Found'.

Here's one of the file names, for example:
sa2_single_dcres.7z.001

I've tried deleting the end of it, and just naming it 'sa2_single_dcres.7z' but to no luck.

Use 7zip first (for those 4 files), then winrar.

Thanks. That was it! I didn't understand how it was said by 'Use 7-zip. For unpacking the RAR files inside archive, you can use WinRAR.'.

Ah yes, if you didn't know there's a program called 7-zip and the practice of double packing archives that is common with some types of things.

In the future, you could have googled "what do do with .001 files". If you poked around that forum, I'm sure you could have found a guide that explained how to extract these archives.

7-zip (the program) will handle rar files too. It's reallly nice software and entirely free. I really like the context menu entries too. 2 clicks and you have a subfolder with the archives contents.

It doesn't handle all rar files correctly. At least, it didn't when I tried it a year ago.
