mine is like buick's!
Ive always used ac cords like the ones for the ps1 and dreamcast on the saturn.
and like i've said before, they dont really stay in place. just put the cord in and dont move the saturn too much.
Oh and buick, I think your cord sucks! not to be mean, but just go ahead and use a cord built for the dreamcast or ps1.
your cord looks like one from an electric razor or an old ass radio from the 80's

Re: sega saturn problem: powers off and on ?
lol youre right it does kinda look like that!
it fits snug though, wiggling it around does nothing...
im gunna go ahead and purchase a new one from somewhere?? if i cant get my hands on a ps1 or saturn one, you think an electronic store will have one??
is there any volt requirements or amps i shouldnt exceed etc.?? or does it not matter, as I've learned that the ac adapter ish is inside and this would stricktly be just a cord?
hobie as for the model, there is no A at the end of the serial number

It is just a cord. As long as it has a polarized plug (one fatter than the other) and the round/square end it will be fine.buick wrote:is there any volt requirements or amps i shouldnt exceed etc.?? or does it not matter, as I've learned that the ac adapter ish is inside and this would stricktly be just a cord?
Not the serial number, the model number. Though I just looked at the wiki page and it specifically mentiones the notched power cord for the 80000A round button model. Odd that I have an oval button model with the notched cord and you and Flojocabron have an unnotched one. I guess that answers that mystery.hobie as for the model, there is no A at the end of the serial number

Re: sega saturn problem: powers off and on ?
thank you for all the help, she just needed some internal alcohol love i guess??
took it apart put a volt meter up to everything/checked fuse/no bulging capacitors etc etc so i decided to give the internal connections some rubbing alcohol etc and it performs a million times better! I can even unplug it, plug it back in and it will run this time! lol
thank you for all your help everybody!
lol man, im not hating on sega here, but I deal with a lot of snes/n64 stuff and have never had a problem personally..
everything sega hates me:
bought a sega cd gen 1, not working.....got it working thanks to you guys
sega saturn, not working properly.....got it working thanks to you guys
sega genesis, reset button not working........tried everything but cannot get it to work consistently....also noticed unit had a bulged c66 capacitor wondering if that is related to it
anyways, love this forum now, and thanks for all the help!

Re: sega saturn problem: powers off and on ?
Eh, so was a little corrosion and a dodgy connection from the power board to the system then. Good that you got it going.
As for the Genesis, the reset button might be full of crap inside and not always making contact. Maybe there's something in the air where you are that happens to react with certain metals Sega used in their consoles.

Re: sega saturn problem: powers off and on ?
The saturn that Buick has is a model 2, they probably just changed the cord style.
I have a model 1, and it works fine, the cord on it is fine.
Best to get a new cord, don't even need to get a saturn specific one either.

Re: sega saturn problem: powers off and on ?
If you look at the Saturn in the background of his cord end picture, it is hard to tell which buttons it has, but it clearly has 'Power' and 'Access' printed in white next to them which is a model 1.Manofiorn wrote:The saturn that Buick has is a model 2, they probably just changed the cord style.
