That's pretty cool. I love stuff like this. Prototypes, production sketches and concept art. I like seeing how where ideas come from and how they evolve.

Same it's cool seeing stuff in early stages of development and what ideas they start with compared to the final version.Michi wrote:That's pretty cool. I love stuff like this. Prototypes, production sketches and concept art. I like seeing how where ideas come from and how they evolve.

Re: Legend of Zelda Prototype found
the FDS prototype is a 95% build, making it only slightly different from the real FDS version. There's almost as little different about it as there is between the FDS and NES cart versions!
nevertheless, it's cool that this stuff surfaces.

Wow what a cool discovery
Re: Legend of Zelda Prototype found
I'm amazed this kind of stuff still gets found.

I'm not really. People acquire things and forget about them all the time because they either can't sell it or don't know what to do with it. Or they put it somewhere safe and forget about it.eddieapoc wrote:I'm amazed this kind of stuff still gets found.
Luckily what often happens is they find it in a box years later and either figure out a way to distribute it or sell it to someone who can. And I'm not just talking about games and nick-knacks (though I'm sure we've all found stuff in our own homes that we didn't even remember we had.
So I'm not really surprised they found it. Luckily for us, those who managed to find it knew how to release it and distribute it to the curious masses.

Weren't most of these prototypes on EPROMs? If that's the case, I'm personally pretty suprised that we're still finding NES ones that work. You'd expect most would've been bit rotted away by now.Michi wrote:I'm not really. And I'm not just talking about games and nick-knacks (though I'm sure we've all found stuff in our own homes that we didn't even remember we had.) There have been quite a few stories in the news lately about rare pieces of artwork found in churches or just people's homes. Most of them inherited it and didn't even have a freakin' clue what it was.
