What have I done?

Post by Jbroderway »

I won an eBay auction. The items described were thus:

I am auctioning 2 Sega Genesis, First Gen and Second Gen. I've had these systems for a long time. They have been sitting in a box for years. I have the the power cord and RF cable for the second gen, but i know it does not power up. The first gen system works but I don't have the RF cable, so I couldn't show it working. This auction includes five controllers and 11 games.

I have tried to find an rf switch for the gen 1 to no avail. Also, what common problems could the gen 2 be experiencing? I'm a sega noob so any help is appreciated.
I just want to separate the cereal from the mouse mask.

Might just be a broken power supply.

There are plenty of Rf adapters on ebay, cheap!

As for the other that doesnt power up, it could be a number of things. Could be a bad power cord, bad power cord jack, burned out fuse.

You'd get a much better picture with the RCA hookup for the model 1.

I use the Nintendo brand RF adapter with my Genesis and Master System so I can verify this.

Does it matter? Slap a Y adapter on the headphone jack and BAM! stereo sound.

If theres one in your town, just go to any random thrift store, go to where they have all their plugs and I'm quite sure you can find one there

same If you go to a flea market, it may take a while, and if you're patient you will find your plug and maybe more
