but is it playable if you can't speak Japanese?
I'm pretty sure that they have English-only custom servers for the game; they did the last time I checked. Also, I heard that a translation patch is in the works.

I believe the Gamecube version will be a lot cheaper

I own three GC imports: Kururin Squash (already mentioned), Super Robot Taisen GC, and Mr. Driller Drill Land. SRT is pretty standard like any other SRT game, except it features 3D rendered robots on the map. Mr. Driller Drill Land is a great game. I bought it super cheap on Play Asia a few years ago (along with the other two GC imports I have). It's similar to Mr. Driller Ace on the GBA, if you've played that. It incorporates Mr. Driller basic gameplay with mission-based levels. The game is presented like a theme park: it has a haunted house theme, a space theme, an Indiana Jones theme, and a Tower of Druaga style game. The Druaga game is pretty cool and incorporates some action RPG elements into the game, and you can use items and such and fight dragons.

No idea about GC imports really.

Here are some Wii ones I might suggest though:
Xenoblade
Another Code: R (UK release so you can play in English)
Super Robot Taisen NEO
The Last Story (in the event that we get screwed and it gets no localization)
Zangeki no Reginleiv
Radirgy Noa

I recently got Shape Boxing 2 for my Japanese Wii and it is so awesome. It plays very similar to most music games, except you perform boxing moves instead. Not only is it very fun, it's actually a really good cardio workout.

There is no English version of this game, however there is one for the first game in the series.

This is the answer, thread can be locked :D - there isn't much, but this stuff is great stuff and justifies a mod or JP GCN. I would add Lode Runner, but that's about it I can see missing.
