Generally speaking, I'm not a gaming sports fan. Sports in real life are fine, but I tend to avoid sporting videogames.
I'm nearing 200 games in my NES collection now, all without a single sports title other than 10 Yard Fight and Tecmo Super Bowl. I notice there's a ton of baseball games on the NES, even more if you could Famicom-only baseball games!
Seeing as there are so many, which ones are actually worth playing? I've heard good things about Base Wars and SNK's Baseball Stars, but would like to hear what you guys think. Thanks.

My vote goes to bases loaded (1-4). I have fond memories of this game because it was one of the few games my dad could understand the controls and would play with me for more than 5 minutes.
My second vote goes to BaseWars. Big characters, very fast, good animation, fun gameplay. We had been playing bases loaded for a long time before we got this, and it felt like a big upgrade.
Another must have NES sports game (imho) is the World Cup Soccer/Super Spike V-ball (a good use of the 4 score adapter as well).

Second that vote for RBI. Great game.
But, you can't sleep on two more total classics:
Baseball Stars
and (my personal favorite)
Baseball Simulator 1000
I think a lot of folks would agree that Baseball Stars is probably the best NES baseball game, and I would argue that Baseball Simulator 1000 might be the most fun due to its craziness.

RBI Baseball
Bases Loaded
Baseball Stars
can't go wrong with any of them, I spent hours playing against friends with all three. I also had MLB which was cool but it pales in terms of gameplay to the other three.

Baseball Stars is in my opinion the best, followed by the original rbi baseball, tecmo baseball, and bases loaded. Though with the bases loaded series, they took themselves WAY to seriously with batting. You would think it's a ps3 game with the precision required to hit in those games.
Heck, even though it's slow as molases, I still love the original nintendo baseball. Little league world series is also good, basicly the same as baseball stars. If you can find it (it's rare) and you want to play softball..dusty diamond is fun.
Happy hunting

BaseWars for the win!
If you get stuck in a rundown between bases, the baseman and runner duke it out TO THE ROBOT DEATH, a la 2d fighter. Its a great game. Super fun.
