How will we get WiiWare games in the future?
Re: How will we get WiiWare games in the future?
There isn't really a good answer for this. Downloadable gaming is still pretty new and what companies do to insure that you don't get boned for the games you bought in the future is still unknown. My guess is you might be able to transfer them to the new console, maybe. Questions like this is one of the many reasons I stay away from downloadable games. They seem more like a long term rental than a purchase of a game. As far purchasing Wiiware games that are no longer available? Legally there won't be a way but, like other posters have said hacking and emulators might be the only way.

That is a major problem for people who don't plan on modding their Wii because no one really knows what will be transferred to new consoles and they'll just be s.o.l. if they want to play a specific game.CRTGAMER wrote:A lot of great download games that will be lost in the current generation consoles as support goes away to newer systems.

After Nintendo stops supporting the Wii, there's no reason NOT to mod it. And at that point, modding it should be extremely simple to do. Not that it isn't already.

lol. It has to be one of the easiest systems to mod and oddly enough it's one of the best for the purpose of emulation/et cetera.Ziggy587 wrote:After Nintendo stops supporting the Wii, there's no reason NOT to mod it. This is why I don't buy any console until it's been well and truly cracked.

I'm not a big fan of hacking/modding current gen systems. Piracy aside, there's the headache and worry of dealing with updates.
Re: How will we get WiiWare games in the future?
I think about this very thing everytime I buy/play anything on xbox live or psn. Hacking really will be the only available option.
As for updates, by the time they stop the servers for Wiishop channel, the systems probably not having anymore.

Put all of your channels/games onto a "backup" SD card. Hack your system in the future to play them (or now if you prefer).
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

But you keep other old systems right? Why not just keep the Wii as the best way to play WiiWare (and VC) after it's time? And like others have said about softmods and such... but I guess to answer your topic [question]: not from Nintendo
