This is obviously great news. But I still can't help but think that this release would have made a lot more sense as a XBLA/PSN download game. I mean, c'mon.. developing a new game for a console that's been dead almost ten years? It's nice to support the thriving "DC Scene" and all. But you're not going to see much money from that.

Especially since some of the last DC releases - Last Hope, Dux, Rush Rush Rally Racing - were all extremely underwhelming titles and did not live up to the standards of the Dreamcast, let alone showcase any of its strengths.

Even though I do not agree with you on every account, but this here is very true. I bought all of the above, and none were worth my money IMHO. RRRR would've been good though had they given the cars engine sound. I'm sorry, I simply cannot play a race game with soundless cars. That's just... ridiculous.

Even though this looks quite impressive, it will be strictly download for me.

Coming from someone that has +250 original Dreamcast games that's saying a lot...

Shmup enthusiasts are willing to not only play premium but also for older systems is probably why they're release it for DC.

Dux and Last Hope were Neo Geo games weren't they? Ported over.

I will smile quite a bit if, a couple of years down the line, another Dreamcast game goes on sale and nothing is slated for release on the PS2. It would be cathartic to see the Dreamcast survive (in some form or fashion) the juggernaut that essentially put it in its grave.

You guys honestly can't see the reward that would come from keeping your favorite console alive?

I hate to break it to ya but the Dreamcast died almost a decade ago. There's been homebrew releases here and there (shooters mainly), but that's hardly enough to say that it's "alive" or been "re-born."

Halo 2600 might have been a good/interesting new title for the Atari 2600. But does that mean they're going to start selling 2600's at Best Buy or Target again? Nope.

Duh everyone knows its dead to mainstream gaming but there's obviously a market for it otherwise they wouldn't be producing the games.

Think logically for just a second the retrogames scene is absolutely massive untapped potential.
Why you think all the big names like Nintendo , Sony and Microsoft release old games on their online services.

Everyone knows that no matter how well a console or system is emulated there just something about it.
It's not like the real thing that's why you get people still making flash carts for old consoles like the Snes and Megadrive, everdrive comes to mind here and what about the retro clone consoles ?

As a gamer I'm loving that they are still making games for it because the console commercially failed before it's full gaming potential was realised.
As a businessman I know for a fact theres a nice market out there and if I wasn't already busy selling something else I wouldn't mind tapping into it either.
