BBA and 56k modem difference

Post by emurozii »

How can you tell the difference between a 56k Modem and a Broadband Adapter for the Dreamcast? They seem to look exactly the same. The only difference I can see is that one has a slightly larger plug than the other (I think so anyway), but even then I didn't know which one was which lol.

The broadband adapter has a larger plug, it won't work with just a phone line, it must be DSL or above.

I can't tell which I've got because I haven't got both of them to compare to each other.

The modem will have 2 or 4 wire springs in the plug, the broadband adapter will have 8.

Found a pic, most adaptors are white. The white one is the Ethernet Adaptor. The black 56k modem is probably from a Sega Sports Edition. Modem has the word Line on it, rare broadband has a wider port. Note this phone modem only has four prongs, some may only have the two Hobie mentioned.
