Stealth Games, Yay or Nay
I personally think stealth games are some of the best, most engaging virtual experiences. Thief, Tenchu, Spinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid and a couple others including games like Deus Ex where stealth is a total option... I love the crap out of stealth games. I also think it's an under represented genre. I also have problems finding other stealth game fans. Am I the only one in CT? Probably not, but who here is a fan?
say, let's get a pile of stealth game titles or games that feature stealth options going in this thread. stealth fans helping other stealth fans find new missions. ay? (so far this is kind of going on already, but now it's encouraged) rock on

I love them! I think they're a great demonstration of less is more: limiting the player's abilities makes the game more engaging. I don't think Metal Gear Solid would be nearly as fun if it played like Gears of War.
I played Alpha Protocol a few months ago, and even though I knew the game was sub par in a lot of areas, I was hooked on the stealth. I recommend it to stealth fans who can see past a game's imperfections.

That's good to hear. The reviews turned me off. I'll have to check it out.Cronson wrote:I love them! I personally don't, the waiting for people to walk away, etc just drives me nuts.
If its done in moderation and not essential, but a choice (Assassins Creed II / SC: Conviction are good examples) then I don't mind it.

I like crackdown for sega genesis. I also kind of like the embassy level in mission impossible for N64.
And I don't know why I know this, but apparently Chicken Run for (dc? ps2?) is a stealth game so check that out.

Amusingly I haven't liked the true stealth games I've tried (a few MGS, few Splinter Cell, Theif, maybe some others) but I often sneak around and snipe in FPS games that allow it. I've played through Far Cry several times and I generally make out ok sneaking around despite everyone's complaints about the AI x-ray vision. I snuck around in Stalker as well, especially once I got the unique silenced rifle that was modded for sniping.

I absolutely love them.
Only genre of video game I prefer a touch more would be Survival Horror.
But yeah, stealth based games are right up there for me. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is one of my favorites. I also enjoyed The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. Played that on Xbox a few years back. Loved it.
Also liked Sly Cooper on the PS2. Really good stealth-platformer.
That reminds me, I still need to get the Sly Collection on Blu-ray.

"Deus" Ex.

Hmmm I'm in the middle with this one. I always used to hate them as I'm far to clumsy, but over the years I keep going back to the genre and playing another one and they are starting to grow on me.

Nothing would be fun if it played like GoW,Cronson wrote:I love them! I think they're a great demonstration of less is more: limiting the player's abilities makes the game more engaging. I don't think Metal Gear Solid would be nearly as fun if it played like Gears of War.
Anyhow, I grew up playing the Splinter Cell games (the good ones, 1-3) and Thief, so I love em about as much as I love FPS games. (Good ones, that is, HL2, Doom 3, etc.)
