I think its because of the continual extraction process as I scroll down the pages. JPGs are snap instant with ACDSee viewer.

Thanks for that Wiki Link. Now hopefully I can just unzip them all.

Changing the Comic Book Archive extension to its corresponding archive format usually will allow the user to extract the image files as they would normally do with an archive. (i.e. changing .cbz to .zip will allow the images to be extracted like a zip archive)

Comic Book Archive files mainly consist of a series of image files, typically PNG (lossless compression) or JPEG (lossy compression) files, stored as a single archive file. The file extension indicates the archive type used:

.cbr → RAR
.cbz → ZIP
.cb7 → 7z
.cbt → TAR
.cba → ACE

Well, I got the magazines from a site that archives old gamer mags and already had them in that format. I do find it much easier to use the program as it turns pages, and lets you view 2 pages at a time just like with a real magazine. Jpeg would be 1 single page at a time, and that would take forever to flip through.

I really don't care what format the guide book is in as long as it's scanned by someone. How many pages are in the book? I know it might seem like a pain to scan them all, but it would be for the greater good of Dreamcast fans everywhere.

I was just informed that the offical DCM in France did a cover story on it too. I am trying to see if we can get this scanned also.

I was also told that CVG did a hands on review of the Dreamcast version, and have posted on the CVG forums asking for scans from the magazine as well.

I will keep you all posted if I get any more HLDC printed media.

Awesome!

Thank you Anthony, I didn't know that there were that many articles about it, I'm really glad you linked the forums to here!

I also would love to see the guide book, I find it funny that it was released, yet the game wasn't.

Yeah, it would be great to have this in digital form. I already have a guy that told me he will start scanning some of the Dreamcast magazines along with the 3rd party DC UK mags. I think that the magazines and the printed material is just as important as the digital media, games and whatnot.

Yeah, these guide books were sold on Ebay for a while, and you can still get a brand new one for $75 right now. Thing is, I don't have that kind of money and I know others have them, but scaning things is too tedious work for the average joe as these books are useualy packed with lots of fun facts and back info on every main character over many pages.

Hi dont know if this is interesting, but I have the following magazines with DC Half Life related previews/reviews/features:

Dreamcast Magazine Issue 9 (UK):
> Half Life newscast (1 page)

Dreamcast Magazine Issue 11 (UK):
> Half Life newscast (2 pages game: 40% complete)

Dreamcast Magazine Issue 15 (UK):
> Half Life feature (3 pages score 81%)

DCUK Issue 14:
> Half Life preview (4 pages)

DCUK Issue 16:
> Half Life review (6 pages score 9)

I can make some scans if necessary.

Shall I email the files to your standard address (6 mb in 3 batches)?

Is it legal btw to scan old magazines (copyrights)? Retromags.com uses a certain 10 years rule, or is this only when publishing to the web.
