If you don't want to fuss with programs just to read cbr/cbzs you can open the files with 7zip. They're pretty much just image archives with the extension changed.CRTGAMER wrote:Very nice! I'm unfamiliar with that Comic Book Reader program. Are the scans in the widely accepted PDF format?
Half-Life Dreamcast Magazine scans!
Re: Half-Life Dreamcast Versus book scans?
I had no idea there was so much media about the game, I was always under the impression that the DC port was much less known.
Re: Half-Life Dreamcast Versus book scans?
Thats good to know, Thanks! I have the Dreamcast Guide book already, be great to have a digital version without dealing with a specialized reading program.t0yrobo wrote:If you don't want to fuss with programs just to read cbr/cbzs you can open the files with 7zip. Yeah, it would be nice not to have to handle the book so much just to read it and possibly damage it. The book is currently on Ebay going for $75.

This is why it would be great to have a scaned version. The Shenmue VS book has already been scanned and is of very high quality.

Also, if any of you are interested, the actual box art was completed and even has a full manual!

Anthony, thanks for doing all that work. That is a lot of pages! I'm glad I bought the DC Half Life guides back then. The digital copy is a very nice bonus!
Can you reduce the pics so the Replies are not stretched? A pain having to scroll left to right to read the threads. To reduce the pics you can use Mac iPhoto or PC Infraview.

Re: Half-Life Dreamcast Versus book scans?
I can just link them and do a smaller picture of them all.
Edit: Done it is much clearner now and better looking I agree.

Re: Half-Life Dreamcast prima book scans?
Thanks. I love this game a lot, and I know others feel the same. I just think it is best to preserve it all for future generations to see how games publications were a big thing before the net became so widespread.

Re: Half-Life Dreamcast prima book scans?
Crap, I thought the Half Life Prima Guide Book was on the disc. I re-read the OP and see that you are requesting someone to scan that huge book. That is a lot of pages!
The Sega magazines on the disc seem to be in Comic Reader format only. An Archive that is not really an archive?
Recommend that you leave all the scans in PDFs or even better in the original JPG. That comic reader format a pain, locks the archive to a proprietary format. I can't even use it on the Mac for example. It would also be great to be able to extract individual pages that can be easily viewed or digitally discerned as a Thread Post/EMail attachment or use as Wallpaper. An archive that is an easy accessible archive.
The same headaches when I get a music enhanced proprietary slide show of pics on CDs from the relatives. All the JPGs locked out into slide show format, preventing individual grabs or printing of a photo. I'm glad they sent me another disc of just the raw JPGs.

CBR is actually a really nice format. It's easy to export individual images as jpg and there are tons of programs that are designed to read them, including, yes, some programs for mac.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic_Book ... e#Adoption
there's several listed in that link for all the major operating systems.
Personally, I wish more magazine, comic, manga, and guide scans would use CBR, as trying to flip through individual jpgs is really a pain to me.

Re: Half-Life Dreamcast prima book scans?
CBR is a slug to run, waiting for all the page loads. With the right pic viewer such as ACDSee (Its old and very quick) a simple roll of the mouse wheel or Page Down on the keyboard changes pages. Maybe have both CBR and JPG formats archived? I hate even having to go through exporting process of all those pages back to open friendly JPG.AppleQueso wrote:CBR is actually a really nice format.
