Let me rant at DVD editions
Re: Let me rant at DVD editions
I'd like to apologize for being obnoxious in the two previous posts. I'm sure as heck not taking them down, but they are a little trollish.

As a Laser Disc (1 hour per side) owner I know exactly what you mean!YoshiEgg25 wrote:This seems like a horrible idea. A good indicator of less video compression for a better quality picture.
Preliminary check of the movie shows a seamless integration of the various versions to save on disc space. The reason for spread of the movie on two discs is less video compression for the best possible pic quality.
The best feature is a new movie in ANAMORPHIC! A getting to be rarity in new movie releases.
Blade Runner inspired new opening scene.

Another Trivial Rant of the Day. I was reminded of this, the convenience that Niode pointed out.
Stupid previews don't have simple chapters encoded on some Studio DVDs. I can only scan forward to see what the next preview is. The worse ones don't even allow a jump to the Menu.
Do we really need to sit through three redundant non-skippable "FBI Warning don't copy this movie" screen?

We received Chicken Little from Netflix today and I noticed that it features “Disney’s Fast Play Technology.” When inserted, you get the choice between “Fast Play” and “Main Menu.'
If you make the mistake of hitting “Fast Play”, you get upwards of 10 minutes of promo crap before the movie starts — just like before.
If you hit “main menu” you get, well, the main menu from which you can actually play the movie directly. That’s right. Fast Play is the slow way to the feature.

Re: Let me rant at DVD editions
That's part of the reason why I rip my DVDs to my PC. I hate having to watch ads before the film I paid for. That's also why I haven't bought too many Blu-Rays. I don't have a Blu-Ray drive on my PC yet so if I want to watch them, it's on my PS3 with ads.

Ever since I got Netflix, I lost the bug that made me buy movies. If a movie has more than one edition, Netflix usually carries them. I guess that's the cheapest way to see different versions of one movie.
