The Wii can't output 567 resolution. It doesn't matter what you hook it up with. At best it was being upscaled by your tv.Curlypaul wrote:I got a component cable a while ago and while the drop in resolution from 567 to 480 was noticable, the colours are so much brighter and crisper so it was completely worth it imo

The PAL format is 576i so yes, it can do that resolution. For NTSC, you have 480p or 480i.jp1 wrote: The Wii can't output 567 resolution. It doesn't matter what you hook it up with. At best it was being upscaled by your tv.

Oops.
I didn't think about the Pal resolution.

Yeah sorry, my wii is PAL. So with a NTSC wii I would definetly buy the component cables.

Thanks a lot for your input, guys. My CRT TV is an older Sony Trinitron with no component support, just S-video. My Dreamcast and PS2 are hooked up to the plasma, and they look fine, so I guess the Wii should look fine too. I never have any problems with lag or any other issues I have heard people have with connecting older systems to HD sets. So I guess the way to go is component cables to the HD set.

Well, got her today. Thanks for everybody's help! It's an xmas present from the woman, so I can't play until xmas or until I get her present.

You could buy her this. Well, maybe a real nice dinner too.

She'd throw that at me, haha. She already asked for some dumb Panasonic skin humidifier thingie that I have to order from Japan cuz they don't sell them here. What a pain in the ass! This thing is going to look stupid on the nightstand.

But I am with EvilRyu, that game looks good. I didn't even know about it because I know nothing about the Wii. I'll probably be up pretty late researching some good Wii games. Thanks for the tip!
