The Saturn CR2032 battery
The Saturn CR2032 battery
Can anyone please tell me if they've tried replacing the Saturn's CR2032 battery while the Saturn was on, to prevent losing data? I have no save cartridge so I need to do it this way.

it shouldn't lose data if you exchange it right away with the sega saturn off. i replaced my battery and still had all of my save files intact, (i don't own a cartridge)

Absolutely correct. I've replace the battery many times over the years and I've never had a problem. The only problem can arrise if you leave the battery out for a lengthy period of time or if you let it sit with a worn out battery for a long period of time.cloudrat7 wrote:it shouldn't lose data if you exchange it right away with the sega saturn off. i replaced my battery and still had all of my save files intact, (i don't own a cartridge)
That's good to know. I thought I heard somewhere before that the data would not be lost immediately, but I wasn't sure.cloudrat7 wrote:it shouldn't lose data if you exchange it right away with the sega saturn off. i replaced my battery and still had all of my save files intact, (i don't own a cartridge)
The rechargeable battery sounds like a good idea, but I could go a long time without switching on the Saturn. I need an official save cartridge, though.
