Any real reason to get a PSone?
I have a PS2 and a PS3, but no PS1. Is there any real reason to pick up a regular PS1. They are real cheap. Or should I just skip it. I am also looking into playing imports. Is it easier to mod a PSone versus a PS2? Or is there some simple way to do it?

To avoid all the repeat responses, an older five page post.

As far as a mod chip, a meticulous solder job.

Buying a japanese ps2 would solve all your ps1 and ps2 import needs.

there's a tiny minority of ps1 games that have issues on ps2 and ps3, so it's nice to have one on the offhand chance you pick up one of those games.
If it's cheap, you've got nothing to lose, so you might as well.

I looked it up on wikipedia and most of the games I probably would skip, and it also said Rayman 1 doesnt work, but I'm pretty sure it does because i played it on my ps2AppleQueso wrote:there's a tiny minority of ps1 games that have issues on ps2 and ps3, so it's nice to have one on the offhand chance you pick up one of those games.

The PSOne is the best looking console Sony's made imo. Beyond that there's really no reason to have one though.

I wish it did...and that they didn't rid of the backwards compatibility. It would have been nice for me when I moved to my dorm to just bring the PS3 and be able to play every playstation game ever. Especially if it was region free for all software PS1 and PS2.Weekend_Warrior wrote:Nope. SorryEvilRyu2099 wrote:Does a PS3 play all regions of ps1 games? Just curious...

If you get the screen, it displays other game system's content very nicely as well as it's own. The modchip isn't actually that hard to install compared to most systems. 6 points and none of them are on the legs of an integrated circuit.
