Sounds like the battery on the memory card is dead :S I am not sure if there is anyway to fix it.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
Re: Sega saturn memory cart problem

Re: Sega saturn memory cart problem
hmm, means it was working long before I'd assume...
Unplug and replug? thats the best advice I can give at the moment. The ram cart is a official cart, right? not a 4-in-1 combo pack, because if it's a combo pack, I'd suggest testing if you can save to that, and if the saves would be recognised.
Also, keep in mind that the memory card has made from the 1995 era, the chance of it sitting unused and unpowered for a long time could do that to it. I had to replace batteries on my SNES carts a couple times already, but never cracked open my saturn card.

Re: Sega saturn memory cart problem
Does the memory card actually show up in the menu and the files are gone?
Did you remove the memory cart from the system while it was turned on? If so, I think that could corrupt the files. Not positive though.
Also, have you tried reinserting the memory card? sometimes the Saturn has trouble reading it and I'll have to reinsert it a few times before it even shows up.
Just be sure to always power off when removing and inserting the carts.

Everything I own is official. But I took the clear option on my cart qucikly turned the console off and the files came back. Ok then I shall never remove the carts without power off. (I always forget to do so)

Re: Sega saturn memory cart problem
I had a knockoff memory card, it works ok most of the time, and sometimes when I put it in the saturn nothing shows up or I get garbled letters.
sometimes I put it in, and it works fine. So I guess thats just that when you own un-official product.
I dont know if yours is an official product or not but I guess theres nothing much you can do.
Before that memory cart finally died I had to move it all to the built in memory and then transfer it to another cart! that was a pain.
well anyways good luck and save up for anoher memory cart!

Re: Sega saturn memory cart problem
IIRC from another thread somewhere, the official Sega memory card does not use a battery. Just for future reference.

Re: Sega saturn memory cart problem
That is correct. The cart slot on the Saturn will likely fail before the memory cart itself ever fails. The cart slot on the Saturns are kind of a weak spot.Jimmy Yakapucci wrote:IIRC from another thread somewhere, the official Sega memory card does not use a battery. Just for future reference.
