any recommendations? i'm looking to gut an xbox, mod it, and shove it inside a large 2-player arcade stick for a portable arcade gaming solution.
if a large 2-player stick doesn't exist i'm willing to mash two sticks together, put a hinge on 'em, and divide up the components

I wrote a couple controller mod guides might be of help. You could also make that dual stick two player and twinstick function.
Look under Guides in the Board index.

x-arcade is the way to go for a two player stick, but you could always make your own

Don't bother with X-Arcade unless you can get them cheap. They're not necessarily bad sticks, the cases are great, sturdy as hell, but the parts just aren't really up to par. You probably won't notice a difference between their knock-off parts and real Happ/iL parts, but I'd bet that they'd fail a whole lot quicker than legit parts. You can do much better for the price, check around shoryuken.com, shmups.com, and arcadecontrols.com for some help with all the parts and whatnot - they really know what they're talking about, much more than I do.
One idea you might think about, depending on your woodworking skills, is building your own arcade stick. That way it'd be completely to your specifications, and would probably be cheaper, depending on the material used. However you end up doing it, keep us posted on it! I had a similar idea, only using a small PC instead of an Xbox, but I've yet to implement it, mainly due to a lack of time and money. Maybe you'll inspire me to get off my ass and do mine!
