Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

BLAARRRGGHHHEEAAAHHHEEE!
WTF is WRONG with this GAME!?!?
My copy is near pristine. The replacement dreamcast I received from Aaron is beyond reproach. It plays EVERY SINGLE DC game I have EXCEPT Shenmue Disc 1.
Has the Lord decided that I am to be the Moses of Sega gaming? Always to see that copy of Shenmue sitting on my shelf but never to play it myself!? Is there some manufacturing defect in this game? I've now gone through two copies on two Dreamcasts!

This is the Lord's punishment for not playing it sooner.Flake wrote:Has the Lord decided that I am to be the Moses of Sega gaming? Always to see that copy of Shenmue sitting on my shelf but never to play it myself!?
But seriously, that really sucks. Burn the disc you need.
Re: shenmue tips?
My dreamcasts (both of them) have manufacturing labels after Spring 2000. Pretty sure that's too late a model to run a burnt disc.

Re: shenmue tips?
Should be fine, I think it was Oct 2000 when CDRs were disabled. I just received a Sega Sports Dreamcast from aaron dated Aug 2000. CDRs run fine on this beauty.Flake wrote:My dreamcasts (both of them) have manufacturing labels after Spring 2000. Pretty sure that's too late a model to run a burnt disc.

Re: shenmue tips?
I also received a Sega Sports model from Aaron, albeit with a degree of cosmetic damage that works for me (the silly logo is worn off).
EDIT: Okay, I'm just going to have to find a spare copy of disc one. This is getting so very annoying.

And on top of that, I'm almost certain it was only Dreamcasts in Japan that ever got the loophole "fixed".CRTGAMER wrote:Should be fine, I think it was Oct 2000 when CDRs were disabled.Flake wrote:My dreamcasts (both of them) have manufacturing labels after Spring 2000. Like 99.9% (I made that up, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was around that...) of Dreamcasts play copies just fine. Your chances of picking up a Dreamcast that won't play copies is next to none.
Own: Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PS Vita, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii U, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, Xbox 360
Re: shenmue tips?
Okay, this is all very encouraging. I think I'm going to see if I can get a loose copy of disc 1 easily. If I can't I'll see about this whole 'back-ups' business.

When did Sega announce they are dropping the dreamcast?
and while we are on the topic, what happened to the videogames industry when Sega announced this?
Or did they see it coming all along?
