Reasonablish.

Though it does bear mentioning that there are a few members on the board who have crafted ntsc-u reproductions of the game playable on a stock Sega Genesis. It's not the real deal but it's cheaper and doesn't require any effort to bypass region locks.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The US actually never saw a release (though it was available on Sega Channel). I can't see any of the PAL versions for sale anywhere, but I can see one or two of the NTSC-J for $70ish on ebay (though that's cart only, complete would likely fetch a higher price). The problem with this game is that it's hard to find, let alone purchase. I'd say go for it if money's no object and it's in ship-shape.

It wasn't even a limited release, as it was never released at all!

It was on the Sega Channel, but that doesn't really count as no hard copies were ever released.

I've seen Japanese copies, in Japan, go for $30-40 used in box with instructions. You'd be hard pressed to find it any cheaper than $75-$100 as an JPN import, though (box and instructions). I wouldn't pay $165 for it, but that's because I would never buy it new when a used copy works just as well. I guess if you're into new copies, you wouldn't find it cheaper than that if at all.

Yeah, no US release. Hence my suggestion of the reproductions. I have one that a forum member made, complete with an incredibly realistic case. Looks real pretty next to my Castlevania: Bloodlines. Kind of like a little 'what-if' of gaming, right on my shelf.

If you get a PAL version you'll be getting it just for show. If you get a JP version you'll be need a gamegenie or something like that to get the game to run on your genesis.

I am located in Asia, so the region thing would not bother me.

Besides megaman wily wars, I am also looking for the box set of megaman 1-6 for PS1.By any chance u guys got hold of the box set?

There's a boxed set? I thought they were all just sold individually. Cool!
