how can you practice qte and what benefit will it do...
There's a couple of Arcade machines in the Arcade that allow you to practice QTE. No real benefit, it's just "fun" and I guess it might help your reactions... slightly... You also gain prizes (small toys) if you get certain scores on the Arcade machines.

Do you think after this game, I should go and play Shenmue 2(xbox). I had this game on the shelf for like 3 years now, it was my only chance to taste Shenmue, but i didn't know a year later i will have a dreamcast, so....i waited until I played the first
YES. Of course. Some purists might suggest getting the Dreamcast version, but it's up to you really. DC version is Japanese with English subtitles. Xbox is English.

Not particularly. Just to listen to music and view cutscenes that you've opened whilst playing the game.

I have Shenmue 2 on the Xbox but I play it on the DC. It may be in Japanese but the voice acting takes a more serious tone and there are subtitles so I think the translation is better. (There are just some things in Shenmue that didn't make any sense.)

Like Reprise said, you can just listen the games music and watch the cutscenes. It used to have some online functions but the DC's servers are no longer operational.

On Shenmue 2, the bonus disc contains footage of Shenmue when it was in development for the Saturn. And you can play the arcade games you've previously played. Also, there are more extras I can't think of right now.

Agree with two previous posts. As in a good foreign film, a better ride in the native language.

Dreamcast Shenmue 2 PAL version in Japanese with English subtitles the way to go.
Euro gamers are lucky, the solid blue framed PAL jewel cases are beautiful!
I still wonder why PAL games of various consoles use blue as an identifier.

Sorry if I derail the thread a bit but this game IS vga compatible, right? I've got a US copy in pristine shape with not a sign of disc rot that will only boot up to a black screen. I can't figure out if it's a problem with my DC or with my VGA connection.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

This only half answers your question I guess, but for Dreamcast, we got blue instead of the orange/red you guys and Japan got, because a orange/red colour swirl is already a trademark logo in Germany. Or something like that anyways.

And yes, Shenmue 2 on the Dreamcast is great! I just wish Shenmue 1 was released with Japanese voices and English subtitles, so that it didn't feel so odd completing the first game and then going straight into the second.

Edit: Come to think of it, I might just buy a Japanese copy of Shenmue. I don't need the subtitles, I've played it so many times I could play the game blindfolded (well, maybe not quite haha).

Sorry, I have no idea, but I would assume it is, yes.

I don't suppose you have an old RF lead or Scart laying around you could test it with?

Really? A disc with no scratches whatsoever and not a spec of disc rot when put before a super bright florescent?

I only ask because I've already replaced disc one already.

Yep, using Sonic Adventure as my control (launch title with 100% boot rate with my DC) I've done every fix I can find on the net: cleaned the pins, cleared the door sensor, and even adjusted the laser minutely. Shenmue still doesn't want to work.
