Evil Twin opinions

Post by RCBH928 »

Any one played this game?
I am trying to like it but its very difficult to do so...

Saving is a pain, lots of loadings , its unclear where you should go next , and maybe worst of all you can't see the level. The textures used in combination with the 3D models makes it impossible to see the curves.

maybe this picture can show you what I mean :

do you think I should give it a shot? or start playing Jet Grind Radio? or UFC for dreamcast? I want to play a dreamcast game

Go play Jet Grind Radio. Stick through the opening level, it can be a bit frustrating as it teaches you the moves, but the game is easy as pie after that.

Just do NOT play the tutorial first, it's the hardest "easy" guide ever.

Evil Twins looked promising, until I fired it up. I literally feel asleep during its opening sequence. Then of course I started up Rez ... I woke up fast.

A strange game with a Tim Burton ring to it. I felt the same here, a slow go.
I should really give this one a chance and see if it leads to better levels.

Here are a couple Dreamcast games, I enjoyed because of their uniqueness.

Wild Metal (Country) a Dreamcast and PC exclusive.

Toy Commander a Dreamcast only release.

I vote for Jet Grind Radio too.

I tried going through Evil Twin and while it definitely has a cool style in terms of the art design, everything else is just torture.
I got to one level where you have to do precision jumping across bridges that crumble apart the second you land on the planks so you have to quick jump from platform to platform. Now obviously this is a normal obstacle for platformers but the loose controls and bad collision detection made this simply awful. I started the section with 17 lives and ended with ONE.
The game just feels half-finished, sometimes you can't figure out where to go and the controls just fail you at times.
However, it does have one of my favorite weird-ass lines in gaming history for the tutorial:
"To use your flip flap, press jump in good time."

Yeah, Evil Twin shouldn't be appreciated for anything beyond its art direction. I'd almost compare it to a glorious train wreck, it's quite a bit of fun to see but a rather brutal physical experience.

I feel like this game was destroyed by the development team, the basis(idea) of the game is very good but the game mechanics and design is a piece of crap.

It got good points, the art style, the characters(I really like the elephant) , maybe the story!? but the actual gameplay and graphics are damn bad.

Seems like the development team hated the creative team on this one. Maybe some one smart can re-make this and release it for the DS or psp. By remake i don't mean port, I mean like same character and art style but totally different design and gameplay mechanics. I guess i will stop play...

boy...this is probably the first game I will quit playing because how bad it is.

I didn't find it that bad. I stopped playing a couple years back b/c i got stuck in a hard part. The graphics leave something to be desired, but I find it better than a lot of those psone ports dreamcast is so famous for.
