If the game is over 4GB it won't show up, you'll need to split it, there's software out there that can do it. KOF series? Do you mean 12? that's the only one available on PS3 isn't it?benderx wrote:The ps3 knows there is a external usb hard drive, its on "MS-DOS (Fat)" I'll check it on windows.Riqz85 wrote:Is the external hard drive formatted to FAT32?

Re: PS3 Hack/Emulation?
I'm really excited for the future of PS3 homebrew, but after an initial surge of new releases, there doesn't seem to be much new software coming out, except new versions of PSGroove and Openmanager. We really need some cool emulators, like the Dreamcast emulator that was shown in an alpha phase a couple weeks back.
Re: PS3 Hack/Emulation?
From what I know, the PS3 exploit has to be specifically coded to whatever device you're using. You can't just drop it on any USB device and expect it to work. There's a hardware compatibility list here.
If they can get Linux running on it again, emulators will be a no-brainer. I just hope they can get the crack working on newer firmware.

There is a group working on usb firmware emulation. So provided they can figure out a way of spoofing the nand to read from USB Flash, then technically you could have a 100% vanilla version of the latest operating system and use that with PSN and then revert back to your hacked 3.42.Hatta wrote:From what I know, the PS3 exploit has to be specifically coded to whatever device you're using. Regarding copying games over, it's not that the games are larger than 4GB, it's whether there is a single contiguous file in the game rip directory that is over 4GB. You can rip games that are larger than 4GB to fat 32 it just relies on all the files being ripped being smaller than 4GB each. Ripping to internal drive doesn't have this issue, but there are some games that still have issues with being read from a hard drive instead of optical media.
The FTP Server can be used to copy game rips from your PC to your PS3, and vice versa. Works in the same way that the Xbox used to. If you don't know what FTP is or how it works then I suggest you google it, it's a very common protocol.

Until Sony fixes the hole that allows that hack. And so on.Niode wrote: There is a group working on usb firmware emulation. Re: PS3 Hack/Emulation?
Speaking of the PS3jailbreak, I want to do this on my fat PS3. Do I have to buy one of those dongles? I remember hearing that it can be done with just a PSP. Can anyone confirm this? If so, a link/tutorial would be really appreciated.
I wanna try putting Oblivion on to see how it preforms.

Re: PS3 Hack/Emulation?
Same way anyone else knows that a new hack is out for the PS3. It's all over the internet when it happens. All they have to do is download the new hack, reverse engineer it to find out what it does, and push a new fixed firmware out over PSN or include it on new game discs. You don't have to update of course, but that just leaves us in the same situation we're in today.Niode wrote:How would they know?Hatta wrote: Until Sony fixes the hole that allows that hack. name it "Gamez" With a capital G, and lowercase on the rest. Worked like a charm for me personally
Re: PS3 Hack/Emulation?
if it's emulating NAND then the PS3 doesn't even know that it's running the latest firmware from USB. How exactly can they (Sony) know what you are doing? It's not possible.Hatta wrote:Same way anyone else knows that a new hack is out for the PS3. It's all over the internet when it happens.
