Only have a DS Phat, but I would play this in a heartbeat. Never played the original Shantae game because of how goddamn expensive it is.

That's really too bad. Shantae is like Castlevania II and Zelda II done right. Evem if you have to resort to emulation, play Shantae. It's not a game to be missed.

By the way, what are the going rates now for Shantae? I got my copy when it was new and have been offered some pretty huge sums for it over the years, especially since I have the box and manual for it in mint.

I've seen loose cartridges hit around $65 or so.

The price has increased dramatically since talk of the sequel picked up among collectors.

Yeah, I looked into it and it looks like emulation is the way to go, cause god knows Nintendo will never port it.

It's really, really good.

I think a lot of people will balk at the $12 price tag (1,200pts). It is the first game to break that barrier on the service after all. However, it's worth every penny.

Here's hoping that Cave Story doesn't join the 1,200pt club ... even though it probably will.

I want to get it but I can't yet. My r4i-sdhc.com card doesn't support 1.4.1 firmware. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon. Yeah, I know, R4 stinks but this card came with my XL as part of a trade.

I've been playing it, and it is awesome. It impeccably captures the soul of a 16-bit platformer, in gameplay, art direction, and story. It is very hard to describe; it has something that other "pseudo-retro" games do not. I can't quite place my finger on it, but whatever it is, it is something absolutely magical. You will understand what I mean as soon as you start playing. If the 3DS, in some extremely unlikely and cruel twist of fate, does not support DSiWare games, then this game will probably be one of the best and only reasons to pick up a DSi.
