if you have the time, go to a fleamarket or a thrift store.
Dig in to the boxes with lots of plugs. Youre better off this way.
official plugs are the ones that are meant for your snes.
snes plugs have a grey plug on them. and they have a nintendo logo on them molded into the plastic.
It will acually say "for use with Super Nes"
heres whats written on them
nintendo
ac adapter
input ac 120 60hz 17w
output dc 10v 850ma
class 2 power supply for
use with super nes and
virtual boy only

You can find them on ebay pretty easily.AznKhmerBoi wrote:picked up a snes recently but missing ac adapter so is there anything i can use for it ... or a way to alter other ac adapter to work with the snes?

Otherwise, you should look for a power supply that can put to 10V DC with an 850 mA or higher current capacity. I believe that the SNES power supply is center-negative. Do not plug in a power supply with the wrong polarity!
But really, I expect you'll just order one off of ebay. I'd probably steer clear of the 3-in-1 power bricks, though. They just seem shady.

PM me for exact details, but I had the same problem. If you're handy with a soldering iron and a drill, you can completely remove the SNES plug and replace it with the generic one the NES Genesis or any number of other systems use, a solid positive core jack. Then you can just use a Genesis AC adapter or anything else. If you take parts from a junked NES, make sure you dont use the NES ac adapter with the SNES, as it outputs AC voltage and that's very, very bad for things that need DC.
In fact, the ONLY reason the SNES uses a different plug than the NES was to prevent people from accidentally plugging in an NES (AC output) adapter in the SNES (needs DC)

So we're planning a funeral for this guys SNES unless he goes to ebay, right?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Which is why I'm glad that the Australian released nes/snes consoles use the same power suply. No need to worry about getting it wrong.Satoshi_Matrix wrote: In fact, the ONLY reason the SNES uses a different plug than the NES was to prevent people from accidentally plugging in an NES (AC output) adapter in the SNES (needs DC)

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad.
