Sony removing OtherOS feature in 3.21 PS3 update

I have a feeling that one day, the PS3 will only be allowed to be used with official Dualshock 3 controllers, hooked up to a Bravia 3DTV, with the official HDMI cable. And for it to work, you have to show receipts for all these things to the PSEye camera every time you start it up.

Well, I was freaking out for a second, but it looks like my X-Arcade PS2-PS3 adapters still work.

And thank f'ing God. If I couldn't use my PS2 SF Anniversary Controllers or my X-Arcade Stick, I'd be stuck with the impossible-to-play-6-button-fighters-on Dualshock3, the awful Tekken 6 stick, or the MadCatz SF4 pads that were such a pain on my thumbs they actually broke the skin.

I'm with you on this one. The wii is the only current gen console I can buy games for. Sony keeps doing everything possible to prevent me from buying their games.

My launch model PS3 hasn't been updated since the removal of "Other OS" firmware BS. I refused to download that update, so I became unable to go online or play new games on my PS3. Well, I was considering buying a new slim model to play new PS3 games on, but fuck that idea. Sony really hates the idea of me giving them money. OK OK Sony! I get it, geeze. I won't ever give you any money again. Sorry for ever doubting you.

I have an original XBOX but no 360 for various reasons. For Sony, everything before the PS3 and PSP Go Fuck Yourself, are good. Nintendo, on the other hand, still has my support. When Nintendo ever decides to stop taking my money, I will become a retro gamer for good.

Well, I was considering buying a new slim model to play new PS3 games on, but fuck that idea.

I've been thinking of doing that myself, but it's more because the 60GB PS3 will get more valuable as time goes by thanks to the YLOD.

well ps3key works. cons: ps3 game has to be inside to run any game, rather have no disc while play time. Backup manager menu cuts the screen off of my tv. SSf4 was not able to backup to external hd failed. backup manager does have problems with ssf4, just read online. my ps3 keeps saying eith 5,000 mb or 500mb left. I think I still have lots a room to backup no matter what.
Pro: It does work very well.

There is a patch for psgroove that fixes the need for having a disc in the drive, I don't know whether or not that will work with PS3Key. Also, certain games that have files larger than 4GB won't back up to a Fat32 drive simply because it is impossible for the file system to handle them.
