That's a good point that I should have made. It is, in my opinion, also the one strength of the Genesis 3 over the models 1 and 2. No access to Sega CD, 32x, and Power Base Converter are pretty stiff things to consider if you are getting a Genesis for the first time.

Thanks for reminding me of that though Hobie-wan.

Actually I would call those benefits to first time Genesis owners.

The model 3 is the system that's the least threatening to collect for as you don't keep getting told to buy add-ons and whatnot. Like when I first started collecting back in 2002 when I was 10 the Sega CD, 32x and Power Base made for confusion a plenty.

And I hadn't even found out about the Model 3 yet!
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I've never had it put that way but you may have a point. I grew up around the Genesis and all of the addons as they came out so I guess that does give me an edge when perceiving that generation of consoles. Though in all fairness, no manufacturer can beat NEC and the PC Engine/Turbo Grafx confusion that they managed.
