My plasma is ED not HD, but s-video looks great on it too. The only things that sometimes look funky are 'flicker' type shadow and fake transparency effects on some older consoles.Ziggy587 wrote:I've said it in a dozen or so of this type of thread... but my SNES looks amazing on my HDTV via S-Video. Just lucky, I guess (knock on wood - so my TV doesn't explode!).

does this happen playing the n64 and psx/saturn?

I think this has some merit. The best possible connection that forces a 480i and below resolution. Maybe the upscaler in the HD adjusts better with the 480i input?Ziggy587 wrote:I've said it in a dozen or so of this type of thread... but my SNES looks amazing on my HDTV via S-Video. Huh? What? That doesn't even make sense. Any console before the Dreamcast will output 480i at a maximum. ALL consoles output at 480i and below regardless of what connection you are using.CRTGAMER wrote:I think this has some merit. The best possible connection that forces a 480i and below resolution. Well that being said, I've played my NES on that TV a few times (composite) and it also looked pretty damn good. But I also put my TV in 4:3 mode when playing/watching something in that aspect ratio. Stretching a 4:3 image to 16:9 always looks bad.

I've just switched from using an RGB cable to an S-Video cable. Although the image is less sharp (some ghosting), the colors are much better.
