Sega hardware av question

Post by Merz »

Will either the sega Saturn AV, Sega Saturn RF, or Dreamcast RF cable work with a Genesis?

I really don't know why companies did not follow Nintendos way of connectors. SNES/N64/GC had the same cord, why couldn't the others have them? Or better yet, just remove the proprietary connection altogether. The Nintendo Wii just had to break nintendo's great track record with that...

That's strange, I swear I remember using a Genesis RF connector with a Dreamcast on one occasion.

Nope, Genesis RF's are either the old school RCA jack Nintendo and Atari type for the Model 1's, or the proprietary Model 2 mini-DIN.

Do they make universal RF adapters? Maybe I'm just completely wrong.

Nope.

The DC, Genny and Saturn all use quite different plugs and were from completely different generations in a time where those multi-plug uni cables didn't exist.

It happens man, no biggie in making sure. I know I've had my fair share of cable troubles.

there are multi RF adapters, I have one somwhere in my junk cable box. It consolidates them all into one.

It has a Super/N64,Genesis2,dreamcast, and playstation jack all in it together.

Ive personally never used it cause im not a big fan of rf jacks.

it is possible to use the same RF from the Master system on the Genesis 1

N64 does not even do RGB

so even though they are different cables on Sega systems, who cares? or do you want one cable and then switch the cable on the console?
