Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My GameStop dropped the PC platform...WTF??

Post by Mozgus »

I'm shocked. I went to GameStop today and discovered that they no longer sell PC games. This....is either a retarded mistake by their local manager, or PC sales have really dropped to the rate of 2 or more console generations prior, which are the only other platforms they don't carry. He assured me that their site still sells PC games, which I knew.

Has anyone been to, or been forced into, their local GS lately and noticed this?

Oh but you know what I did see them still selling? Gameboy (not color) titles.

To use your own words - I'm shocked (although they must be used, for sure). Some people might collect them.

I'm guessing it probably has to do with the fact that they never accepted trade-ins of PC games.
They make most of their money on reselling used stuff.

Yeah, the whole pc thing is probably totally based on their not accepting used pc titles. I guess with keys and loading/burnability there's supposed to be a higher percentage of theft with those...

How far does the compatability go with original gameboy titles? like are they playable on all the later systems? I always thought that it was interesting to see mid/late 80's games on sale when they don't even carry late ps1 titles or dc stuff...

The GB stuff just won't play on the DS... that's about it.
