No kidding, I just got to the first ground mission and ended up dying on it. It's hard to kill the bad guys when your own guy turns so damn slow. You can't strafe or anything too.Hatta wrote:Well, I remember why I never got too far in Urban Strike. These ground missions are fucking awful. As one reviewer would say, it's a shitload of fuck. Always locking onto the wrong target, or not locking on at all, getting hung up on a wall going around a corner, etc. I've been playing the ground mission after the one in San Francisco for the last hour and a half, at least 8 attempts and I haven't done any better than my first attempt. Why would they tack such an awful game onto such a great one? It feels like someone made me a delicious cake and shat all over it.

ok three times in a row now I beat all the missions in Level 1, and then I go back to home base and it says "bad delivery maybe you should work for the postal service" then it makes me play the first level over again. So what am I doing wrong???

apparently I'm doing something wrong on the bomb mission...
Re: Together Retro: Urban Strike
That's odd. I don't know how you'd get to the green berets without setting the bomb off in the right place.
I finally got through Vegas last night. Just swinging around and clearing the strip from the other end did it for me. The ground level in the casino was pretty easy thankfully. Only one level left I think. Looks like a long one.

I've played the Game Gear version for two days now (on the Game Gear). Unfortunately, I don't have the manual, and I can't find the text online. Does anyone have a link?
So far, I can complete a few objectives in Mission 1 and that's it. It's not that bad of a game. It's just a little hard to see things, as with all Game Gear games.

[21:56:22] noiseredux: DSH, when you get the bomb to drop on the green berets (purple cloud) what do you do? Spell it out for me like I'm stupid and have never played a game before. Obviously I'm fucking that mission up.
[21:56:52] kingmohd joined the channel.
[21:57:01] dsheinem: you have to rescue the berets
[21:57:01] kingmohd: wassup
[21:57:11] dsheinem: they come out one at a time
[21:57:16] noiseredux: WHAT
[21:57:17] dsheinem: and a sniper comes out simultaneously
[21:57:21] noiseredux: I thought you had to bomb them???
[21:57:24] dsheinem: shoot the snipe rescue the beret
[21:57:25] dsheinem: repeat
[21:57:31] dsheinem: that's after you rop the bomb
[21:57:34] dsheinem: *drop
[21:57:39] noiseredux: OMG> no wonder!!
[21:57:55] noiseredux: where the fuck is modman?? he's probably making the same mistake as me.
[21:58:00] dsheinem: there are 4 or 5 of them i think
[21:58:07] dsheinem: so if you just picked up one, that is the problem
[21:58:21] noiseredux: no no
[21:58:39] noiseredux: I dropped the bomb on the cloud, and right then and there it said "return to base" so I did.

Well, apparently you can't shoot your gun while you're towing a box underneath your helicopter. If you do, you just drop your cargo. Guess I'll try to beat mission 2 again tomorrow.
Re: Together Retro: Urban Strike
At least now you know how to drop your cargo. Nothing worse than being over a target with a bomb and not knowing how to drop it, heh.
BTW, I just finished. If you're keeping track of score/passwords, be warned that that screen only lasts for a short time. I wasn't able to grab my notebook before it passed.
I think I'm going to try Soviet Strike now. I have not played that one before.
