Having grown up in the Arcades and 2 player console games.
The social aspect of gaming when it is in person can't be beat.
At family occasions we all still whip out the fighting games to play.
When we first started it was Street Fighter 2 on the Snes
Then when the Saturn came out it was Virtua Fighter 2 everyone wanted to play.
As the Saturn started to die off it was Tekken 3,
When the Dreamcast came out everyone was super impressed with Soul Calibur
When the Dreamcast era died off it was Soul Calibur 2 on Xbox and PS2.
Lately it has been Street Fighter 4.
I can't even begin to describe it the winner loses rule and the you left the room rule so you have to miss a turn.
The way you taunt the other players when you win so they get pissed off and lose easier.
The way you get angry when you lose and almost wanna smash the controller coz they beat you so badly on the game on top the other player was taunting you.
We had like a local arcade with 1 Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo game and the other Samurai Showdown and most of us were rubbish at Samurai Showdown so our tournaments were held on Street Fighter.
We all got pretty decent at playing and once we went to the Big arcade in the city centre and I the SSF2 Turbo was on a massive screen and cost 20p a game as opposed to our 10p.
In any case I put my money in and the guy was supposed to be good but when our group got there we absolutely dominated the place.
Awesome feeling
Ah man I miss the Arcade days.
