Does anybody know if there are any new non-sports games coming out on the PS2 in the next 6 months or so? Because I haven't heard anything.
The last non-sports game that got released which I'm aware of was a port of the PSP game, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow.

Re: Any New PS2 Games On The Horizon?
The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest has a PS2 port due out in September, but other than that, the only games I'm aware of are basketball, hunting, and fishing games. The PS2 seems to be pretty much dead now in the US.
EDIT: I take it back, I just looked up a release list on IGN. Here's the link:

A lot of stuff is pending, so it might get canceled, but they're expecting some Final Fantasy XI stuff, some games based on film and cartoon properties, a lot of sports titles (apparently including a new Tony Hawk), an SNK compilation, and...that appears to be it.

Re: Any New PS2 Games On The Horizon?
There were plenty of actual games released after Syphon Filter sir, in fact Sakura Wars finally got it's first ever US release just recently in late May on the PS2 and is the final big budget title to be a true game to release for the system.Weekend_Warrior wrote:Does anybody know if there are any new non-sports games coming out on the PS2 in the next 6 months or so? The new LOTR game seems to be the last non-cash-in or non-ultra outsourced title coming for the system, but looks really weak against how great Sakura wars was.

Does anyone know what the last "real" PS2 title was that doesn't have a port on another system (Sakura Wars was released on the Wii as well)
The last one I can think of was Persona 4, was was December 9, 2008 (at least in the states)

The Wii version of Sakura Wars is a US exclusive and was designed just for the US market therefore doesn't count.dlmvii wrote:Does anyone know what the last "real" PS2 title was that doesn't have a port on another system (Sakura Wars was released on the Wii as well)

Slim pickins for the PS2 these days. In the past two or three years, the best PS2 releases have been Persona 4, Devil Summoner 2, Sakura Wars, Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Jak & Daxter: Last Frontier, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest, and Ar Tonelico 2.

Re: Any New PS2 Games On The Horizon?
Weren't there plans to turn the PS2 into an open-platform at some point? I believe it was only in Europe, but even so, I'd think that would mean the PS2 could live on further in the hands of smaller companies and indie developers.
