I guess the d-pad is suppose to be better. The d-pad never bothered me but most games that would use it I use an arcade stick for anyhow. I like the color scheme but why the price hike? I also got an email letting me know that XBL fees are going up.

Re: New 360 controller
Hopefully by the time I have the money for the new 360 model, they'll decide to bundle the improved controller with it.
Re: New 360 controller
Actually it isn't a price hike. But it is only bundled with the Play and charge kit. So a 49.99 controller + 14.99 for the play and charge kit, about 64.99
Re: New 360 controller
Doesn't it come with a recharger as well? That would explain the price hike. I don't like how they're removing the colors from the buttons because in-game they use colored buttons, and I rely on that since they decided they weren't going to put them in the same layout as the SNES.
I'll see if I can try this at PAX and see if this improves the D-pad or not.

I don't understand people saying that they rely on the colors. They button layout didn't change, do you look at the controller when you are playing a game?
Re: New 360 controller
Not while playing once I'm used to the controls, but when trying out a new game in their tutorials? Yes, as a matter of fact I do. And my muscle memory for the controller is set around those colors, so jarring my eyes with the change could lead to momentary hesitation. Also sometimes it's bloody hard to see what button they want me to press, so instead I just go with the color connotation in certain games, which will make it more difficult since there will be no color connotation.yomomma1 wrote:I don't understand people saying that they rely on the colors. Re: New 360 controller
As I said on the PlayerOne forum, Microsoft should have went with the d-pad design of the original Xbox, which was vastly superior and why I prefer running MAME on my Xbox to my PC.

Re: New 360 controller
From a design standpoint removing the colors on the buttons is amazingly stupid. As for the rest of it, meh. if I need a new controller i may consider it, but I'd rather put that money towards a arcade stick and have something much better.
