ha! glad you asked... while the tenchu games have always been a little "behind the times", technologically speaking... they have always been the only actual "ninja" game... be it that they feature ninjas and stealth and whatnot... heh. i'm a fan of stealth games and definitely a tenchu fan. Wrath of Heaven is exactly what it needs to be (if you can find the oxbox version entitled Return from Darkness you'll be treated to a couple extra moves and 2 unique levels(!))... Tenchu: Fatal Shadows is probably my favorite, while it does not feature series staple Rikimaru, it does have Ayame and an all new character Rin. Both are very satisfying games if you need to get ur stealth on, ninja style of course. Also... if you can stomach them (for they are somewhat broken) there is the Tenchu wannabe Red Ninja and the high-tech gadget reliant Stolen... so, to paraphrase:

Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven/Return from Darkness... YES
Tenchu: Fatal Shadows... YES
Red Ninja... MAYBE
Stolen... MAYBE

hope that helped

Rogue Ops is good. Also I guess you could consider Socom stealth as well. You may want to give Second Sight and Spy Fiction a try as well.

Ape Escape 3 - The Metal Gear Solid level. :D
Just like DC Toy Commander, don't let the kid theme deter you, entire game is great!

It's an interesting choice, it's really a platforming series, but they do feature a fair amount of stealth play. I actually like how they fuse platforming with stealth. The Sly Cooper series and Beyond Good and Evil have more going on gameplay-wise than just stealth gameplay, but the stealth elements are well implemented I think

There's also Shinobido: Way of the Ninja. Tenchu:Wrath of Heaven is excellent but Tenchu 2 on the PS1 is still my favorite. Wrath of Heaven is more polished and less frustrating though

I would say if you want REAL stealth gameplay, Tenchu and Splinter Cell is where it's at. I dig the Metal Gear games, but I've never felt that they represent stealth gameplay all that well. Splinter Cell, Tenchu, and the Hitman games are much better in the stealth department and of course the Thief series, but I think those are for PC only.

If you're interested in a horror approach, there is always the Siren series, though be advised they're pretty brutal.
