Shenmue: Setting myself up for failure!

Post by 9646gt »

I did a bad thing ladies and gents...I sarted Shenmue and ordered Shenmue for xbox (couldn't afford the euro version here in the states) and I am so addicted to the game! I am almost done with disc 3 and can't wait to play part 2. However, at the same time I know I am going to be nothing but upset knowing I may never see the end of this awesome story! I will probably just become another annoying fan in the ears of Sega demanding the rest of the story! Bust it's something we endure as fans of lost franchises!

i see that it is very stupid that sega will not complete the series.

I understand that this game did not sell, but we are not asking for it to be
a mega budget game. 3D games are not expensive to make(look at Wii games)
and some smaller projects are making profit.

I think it would be super cool if Sega would release Shenmue 3 with a Dreamcast version .
Shows just how much Sega is dedicated I guess to its fans.

Sadly, the last game Ryo Hazuki is in is Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing on Wii/PS3/360.

It was nice seeing him again, but that was nothing but teasing the Shenmue fans like me. I want one last game! :x

Great replies. What other games are on a similar level of Shenmue? I mean, honestly I have never been an RPG ish fan but this game sucked me in from the fist cinematic. What really sucks is, the last article I read on Shenmue said the $70mil dollar budget for the first game also was meant to fund future titles. Of which we only got one!

The Yakuza games by Sega are the closest you'll ever get to the Shenmue experience. That said, the games feel very different to Shenmue so expect something like a PG-rated Yakuza movie experience with some b-grade stuff thrown in for good measure.

And unlike Shenmue, this series is actually successful in Japan.

Yep, first two in the series are available on the PS2, and the third is on the PS3. A fourth is also on the way I've heard, but I don't know much about it.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)
