4mb cartridge question (saturn)

so i'm buying all these fighting games on the Saturn and I was wondering if there are any difference between all these games that include the 4mb cartridge?

What does that mean? If your question is can you get any 4mb cart, then yeah. I'd get the Action Replay 4M because it also allows you to play imports.

Also, keep in mind that some games will have more animation and faster loading times with the ram cart plugged in. I believe that Cyberbots is one of them. It plays with or without the cart but the animation is much smoother with the cart.

I so worded that wrong, I meant are there any difference between the 4mb cartridges?

I was planning to buy the Action Replay 4in1 but was just curious whether the cartridges that came with the game had anything else special on it or was optimized for that particular game.

I just wanted to make sure so that I don't buy multiple 4mb with these imports and then feel like an idiot.

If someone is selling you a 4mb cartridge with the game, then it will work with all of your games. Someone may be selling you a 1mb cartridge with the game though, and that would not work with games requiring the 4mb cartridge. The cartridges aren't optimized for certain games.

4MB RAM carts will work on all games that use the 1MB RAM cart, so if you have a 4MB cart there's no need to get a 1MB cart.

The Action Replay 4-in-1 also functions as a 4MB RAM cart, but I noticed on one of the Samurai Shodown games that the character sprites are messed up when using the Action Replay. The official ram cart doesn't have this problem. I think Soukyugurentai is another game that also has this issue with the Action Replay.

King of Fighters 95 and UltraMan: Hikari no Kyojin Densetsu are the only Saturn games that come with their own specialized ROM (not RAM) carts. Those carts have some of the game's data/animation and will only work with those games.

Action Replay 4-in-1 and an official 4MB RAM cart are what you need. If you plan on playing KoF 95 or Ultraman, be sure they come with the specialized ROM cart.
