I'm pretty sure that IS his comparison. They found a more profitable business model than developers on other platforms. I can't say I respect EA for project 10 dollar, or Sony for the PSP go, but at least they are trying to see what they can do to shake things up.
Re: Publishers and their used games gripes.
jp1 don't try and change the subject. You said Current gen consoles don't cost as much to produce as older games. You are wrong and now are trying to say they should cost loss. They COULD cost less, at cost of gameplay, voice actors, visuals, and time to produce. The only reason Deadly premonition was good because it was good-but-bad.
Re: Publishers and their used games gripes.
I would buy this in an instant; hell, I'd buy one for everyone on my team at work just to make sure people play. Then again, I'd be happy if Nintendo just said "We're doing the SNES again, and debuting the SuperFX3 chip".Jrecee wrote:I personally think Nintendo should go a step further with their next system and simply release the SNES 2.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Let me show you an exact quote.yomomma1 wrote:jp1 don't try and change the subject. You said Current gen consoles don't cost as much to produce as older games. I never said current games cost less to produce. They also cost A LOT more to manufacture and distribute and sold fewer copies.
Anyway, I have also said multiple times that there are instances of games that are worthy of the high price tag.
If we can't agree then that's fine but don't go twisting my words to try and act like I contradicted myself. If you are happy to throw all your money at these publishers and think they deserve every penny that is your own business. I'm entitled to my opinion just the same.
I still don't agree that the game has to be any worse when it comes to gameplay, voice acting, visuals, or anything else for that matter just because it costs less. Cost of production and quality of the game are not synonymous.
Re: Publishers and their used games gripes.
So artwork was cheap on old games? I would have thought that all the hand drawn stuff would have been just as expensive. I don't know anything about the costs of artwork but I don't see why current gen games would cost any more.
Yea you said they cost more to make. (This matters because the cost of HD games are basically because of all the extensive time put into graphics)
Re: Publishers and their used games gripes.
I said right in the quote "I know nothing about the cost of graphics" and "I would have thought" it obviously wasn't a statement of fact. In my opinion a game full of beautiful hand drawn sprites should have cost at least as much as a muddy brown hd game but that doesn't mean it does. Like I said don't twist my words.

Yeah, the Super Duper Nintendo Entertainment system would be a day-1 buy.MrPopo wrote:I would buy this in an instant; hell, I'd buy one for everyone on my team at work just to make sure people play. Just because it's muddy brown doesn't mean there's a lot of detail. It's just a reflection of the color palette chosen.jp1 wrote:I said right in the quote "I know nothing about the cost of graphics" and "I would have thought" it obviously wasn't a statement of fact.
