These are the dudes that did my Xbox 360, great guys. I would'nt bother paying for it, it wont be all too long before it hits the 'streets' if it is real.

What a sleeper on this post. Maybe next week more people wil be talking about this. It goes on sale next week. I wish I could buy this online for a cheaper price below the $100 barrier. My price would be $70 fair price. too bad there are no good movie/game rental locations nearby. I did like going to hollywood video because it was across the street. I wanted to get a job there at one point until it closed down a few years ago. Redbox would be neat to have video game selection but none yet in Los angeles. Redbox is cool but has small selection of movies. haven't seen any tv shows (seasons) in red box. And the dvds in redbox doesn't include deleted scenes or extra goodies.

it wants me to buy it (its controlling my mind), i do have enough money for jailbrak. I know there will be others like it or newer versions of it.

I was also thinking of buying it and installing it. then when they release a newer version then i would resale the old one and replace it. difficult process to desolder chip inside. I don't know all the details yet until they release it. the website is very slow to load up.

I have a feeling this will be patched up in the near future via a firmware update. The page says it disables Sony's forced firmware updates; Sony could probably check firmware version if you try to play on PSN (or go to the store) and block you from these services until you run the update (or it could be like the Wii where certain games would make you update or they won't play). If the console doesn't really go online this could be a solution for some. I really hope that Sony doesn't crack down on USB drives from the USB ports because it is a convenient and easy way to obtain save files from the internet and back up your own game saves.

Seriously though, what's the point?

So you can install your games to the hard drive. I want it for that reason alone. Could care less about pirating, I have all the games worth having on the system anyway. Having the convenience of all the games in one place would be awesome. No doubt somebody will be able to build a more elegant launcher like USBLOADERGX for the Wii.

Absolutely fine if you don't plan on online gaming, ala modded oXbox on XB live, and modded 360 on XB live

Sony can easily detect that you are running a jailbroken system, and can ban you as a result. If you were to use this modchip, buy a older PS3 (as long as it reads discs, you're golden) and jail break it.

To run backups you need to launch a jailbroken app, Title: Backup Manager || Title ID: LAUN12345. All Sony needs to do is watch for that title in your game history and poof, you're banned

Why don't they patch the ID to something inconspicuous. Have it so it launches with the name of a genuine game. Then it would be a little more difficult for Sony to trace.
