I have not got my 2.2 update yet but the 18th is suppose to be the last day. I bought my phone launch weekend, you think they would have gone in that order but who knows how they are doing it.

If you don't get it automatically, you can always install the official update manually.

It controls quite well, especially if you have a keyboard. What kind of phone are you upgrading to?

Well, the first choice is what carrier to go with. I have reception problems with T-Mobile, but I otherwise love them. Considering Sprint or Verizon.

The Epic 4G is looking good, but I'm kinda an HTC fan and they are rumored to have some solid stuff (with keyboards) coming out in the coming months.

What's great about Android is there is always fresh hardware coming out.

So what phone are you using and how does the keyboard come into play?

My phone (HTC Ego) doesn't have a keyboard, unfortunately, but I have used the emulator on my friend's Droid, so I know it helps. I also used to have a G1. I agree that the Epic 4G is a cool phone. In retrospect, I probably should have waited to get it instead of the Evo.

Just got my 2.2 update.

I am using a Droid and I love it. It is great for emulators which can be found on the market. Specially with the hard keyboard and a game gripper. I know the Droid 2 that just came out has a hard keyboard also but the Droid X does not. The Droid 1 is the only one that can be rooted so far.

This 2.2 update has made my phone lightning fast. 8) I am sure it will probably be the last update this particular phone will get but I could be wrong. I know that new Sony phone they are talking about will be running Android 3 which I can not see the Droid 1 getting but it is also not really a necessity.

Yeah, sorry, but the Droid probably won't get Android 3.0; the minimum system requirement for it is a 1-gigahertz processor, which the Droid falls just short of. Anyway, contracts on getting the 2.2 update; sounds like it's just as fast on the Droid as it is on the Evo.

Actually there haven't been any minimum requirements released for Gingerbread yet. The 1 Ghz thing wasn't true, the guy who said it wasn't actually on the android team or something, the claim was later retracted by Google people.
