Re: Favorite Gaming Franchise?
I bought maverick hunter X and kind of hated it. It implemented that whole post X4 no upgrade style for hard mode and just felt a little too off from the originals tight control, but I'm probably just putting it under too much scrutiny seeing as MMX is probably one of my most played and favorite games of all time.Gamerforlife wrote:If we're listing more than one entry, I'll also add Final Fantasy and Megaman X, though the quality of those series has definitely been up and down, there's something about them. Whenever a new entry comes out, it's like a mind control device goes off in my head and makes me buy it no matter what. I was dissapointed that the Megman X remake on the PSP won't have any sequels due to low sales. Might be time for me to finally started getting into those Megaman Zero games
I used to love Dynasty Warririors, until the number of games, expansions, spinoffs, etc. just got too ridiculous for me to keep up anymore.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

I hope capcom does the same thing they did with Megaman 9 and 10 but with Megaman X. Make a new X game but in the style of the snes games.
Not that I've ever actually beat any of the X games.

It's amazing how touchy MMX fans are about control I've noticed. Someone was complaining MMX4's control in another topic and I thought that one controlled perfectly.AwesomeMonstar wrote:I bought maverick hunter X and kind of hated it. I would say the remake's controls are slightly different, but overall I found the controls much tighter than I expected. That, plus how closely the new visuals matched the original left me impressed. I thought it was an excellent remake. In fact, the PSP has been pretty good with remakes in my humble opinion. I though Maverick Hunter X, Final Fantasy Tactics:War of the Lions and Dracula X:Chronicles were all excellent. The new Dracula fight in Dracula X: Chronicles was EPIC!
What's that about no upgrades for hard mode? I don't remember that, and I finished hard mode with both X and Vile

I think you're right about hard mode, either that or that mixed them all around to some nonsensical places, the small liberties they took with the game could never have been ok with me to tell you the truth. As I said, MMX is game I know backwards and forwards and any small change (with the exception of vile mode, despite the fact of some ridiculous placement of power ups, storm eagles stage comes to mind) would have made me furious. You can't go changing my baby. Anyways, something made me pissed.Gamerforlife wrote: It's amazing how touchy MMX fans are about control I've noticed. As for x4, I also thought it controlled fine, but the aspect ratio, music and level design (all to horizontal while X1-3 had such good variety) left me ultimately dissapointed. I actaully enjoyed x5 more, except for, again, it's substitute of dificulty with lack of content. X6 was a steaming pile of poop though, possibly one of the worst games I've played in a long long time. But I digress...
I do agree that drac X and war of the lions were excellent though. Infact, I wish I knew where my copy was of the former, I'd love to give that another go.

Best RPG series? 3/4 anyway.
