i wouldn't call it the worst console, but i certainly don't see why everybody gets a boner over it. it failed for a reason.

I guess anyone who doesn't own a Saturn can say it's the worst by statistics.
I mean, really, the worst? I mean, for gamers either the 3D0 was the worst or the Jaguar was the worst. By this guy's facts, the TurboGrafx-16 is also the worst.

Still not the best system around, but it still has it's perks (and it's a import console anyways) and I still favor it for Guardian Heroes.

i am assuming he isn't counting the 3do, turbo grafx, etc as major consoles. i def don't consider them 'major' console releases either.

To be fair, it probably is the worst selling "mainstream" console, at least in america. More than a decade later, nobody remembers the cd-i, turbografx, 3do, etc. Most people have at least heard of the saturn. It definitely had it's niche, but the playstation and n64, its main competitors, had many more titles released (again, in the states at least).

That said, considering how Sega-centric members here tend to be, I don't think that article will win him any friends

I guess maybe as a mainstream american console it wasn't great, but all the shmups, imports, and 2d fighters were amazing. I have a ton of games and I play the crap out of the system.

Yes the Saturn had major problems regarding its release, but everything else about the system was solid. Great games, solid controls, etc.

The N64 on the other hand had two major problems, the fact that it stuck with the Cartridge format rather than moving to CD (which led to them losing the Final Fantasy franchise). And the second point is that they had arguably the single worst controller in the history of gaming.

The Saturn was poorly marketed and had weak 3D graphics when Super Mario 64 and Tekken were all the rage. Bad combination.

However, it still had amazing games released for it. That's the appeal of it for me. It may have bombed in the 90's, but it's like a little treasure chest I can go back and discover today.
